Field Trip

We had our Civil War field trip.  It was very fun. We got to see how the soldiers dressed. They wore wool all the time. There was many different kinds of guns they used. One of them was the sharpshooter. The sharpshooters would hide in trees, houses, fields, and anywhere else they could find. We also got to see how the girls pitched in. They would either dress themselves as a boy or do medical help. The most common was medical help. They would take wounded soldiers in and give them medicine or any other things they needed. The next thing we saw was the guns and a cannon. They showed us some commands and a routine that the soldiers would use. When they shot the cannon off it was very loud. They actually didn't put bullets in the weapons, they just put powder in. One other thing is that we got to take a walk to see all these different sites. We had to wear long pants so we wouldn't get ticks! They showed us some games  the soldiers would do when they got bored or they weren't doing anything. One of the games was baseball. Their baseball is very different from how we play it today. Some of us even got to hit the ball and run. The last game was red rover. It is exactly like the one we play today. At the end of the trip we were all very thirsty. As soon as we got to the school, we jumped out of the van and ran into the school to get a drink! by EW
